sticks and stones.

This year of uni is over so i've found myself with quite alot of time on my hands, naturally i'm trying to fill it with novels. As i've read and thoroughly enjoyed a book by Chuck Palahniuk before (Fight club), a friend kindly lent me Lullaby, so i gave it a bash.

It's unfortunate that this is the only second book i've read by him as the plotline is so terrible its put me off reading the less well known Palahniuk Novels.

Its written in the classic 'Transgressive Fiction' style very similar to that of Mr. Ellis which i do thoroughly enjoy but this energy is wasted on a shockingly bad story.

Basically to sum it up: A reporter is doing a piece investigating sudden infant death syndrome, he begins to notice all the dead children were read the same poem. Turns out to be an old 'Culling song' which makes people drop dead (yes, i know). It turns into a big hunt for a book of black magic, people die etc. It's actually quite laughable in parts.

Don't waste hours of your life on this book.

So i've psent the last few days avoiding work by spending my time viewing the last episodes of Twin Peaks. Its safe to say the 2nd series is much better than the first but the ending, oh my, i have never been so dissapointed in my life. Well maybe not quite, but definatly in my top 10 most dissapointing moments.

The series comes to a climax at the black lodge which is meant to be a residence of evil, Dale Cooper and the police are lead there by Windom Earle (nutjob serial killer). Basically lots of wierd shit happens and its visually amazing but doesn't help tie off the storylines and make things clear in my head.

Then it turns out Bob has possessed Cooper when he wakes, which broke my heart.

I am very confused now as to who is alive and who is dead. The prequal film (which only makes sense watched after the series), fire walk with me, should hopefully clear up all the confusion.

It is however, one of the best tv series i've ever watched and wish it didn't have to end.

Well, fuck me gently with a chainsaw.

I decided to dip into my student loan and treat myself to a new film, and that film just happened to be Heathers. As a much too enthusiastic fan of depressing american high school dramas and black comedys, Heathers was most definatly a good choice on my part.

Based around a popular clique of teenage girls, three Heathers and one veronica, the film follows veronica as she begins to despise the mean spirited Heathers. With the help of her new lover, JD, she begins to bump off (unknowingly) the bullys of the high school, making the murders appear as suicides. It then plot then proceeds to a very messy situation.

This film is so good it makes me want to be veronica and don a 90's preppy attire.

winona ryder is a definate crush.
